Henry, Frieda, Patrick and James,
It is with my deepest sympathy that I, very belatedly, offer my condolences to you and your families, in the passing of your dear mother, Pat. I first met Pat and Vlatimer on a trip to Iowa many years ago. They were such hospitable, down-to-earth, good folks. Pat and I shared a love of gardening. I'll always remember when VJ, Pat and James drove up to Alaska to visit family and then visited our family in Eckville, Alberta, Canada. At this time, VJ was dealing with a cancer diagnosis; but still withstood the long drive with determination.
Over the years I enjoyed phone calls with Pat who was always such an upbeat lady. I truly miss her. May happy memories sustain all of us.

Aunt Pat and Uncle Lat, like all of the Kashas, were unique, special, loving, giving, kind and two of my many Kasha mentors I strived to emulate and guide me throughout my formative years. I can to this day, recall the first visit Uncle Lat made to our home in Oklahoma with my soon to be Aunt Pat! Uncle Lat, just as all of the Kasha families professed to our family in making everyone feel loved and wanted, so did Aunt Pat with her smile, warmth, love and “Kasha-way” embrace our family in making us “right-at-home,” be it in their home or in their presence at any other home or location.
Our family always looked forward to visiting Aunt Pat and Uncle Lat, or having them spend time at our home in the country. Interacting with their children and all of the Kasha Aunts, Uncles and cousins, was the highlight of any seasonal visit we had with everyone. Unfortunately, our visits were few and far in-between. As with Aunt Pat and her family, work and providing for the family was the first priority for every one in the Maier household. Consequently, the memories we have are regrettably few, but remain the highlight and best times of our lives!
I know I was blessed to have Aunt Pat and all of the Kashas for my wonderful and awesome relatives, and shall forever cherish the memories! With the passing of Aunt Pat as our last remaining Aunt, as well as, Uncle Lat and our Uncles having proceeded her and him, the torch remains in excellent hands. With all of our cousins guiding and leading the way to raise and mentor our marvelous and amazing future generations, we can all go in peace with love in our hearts!

I remember that if life threw lemons at her she made lemonade. When things went wrong she always figured out what to do. She didn't let things get her down. Always a happy face to cheer up anyone that needed it. Friends & family were always welcome & met with the best that she had to offer. I'm sure she always gave all she could to what ever she undertook.
She & Uncle Lat were special people & loved by all. They made a lasting legacy whenever they were.
We hope her special qualities will be with you as great memories of who she was & how she affected the lives of everyone she knew. Much love to all of you. Liz & Kirk

Aunt Pat Was quite the cook! She made everything from scratch never using box mix cooking aids! One time I was cooking breakfast for the family. I ran out of pancake mix. Aunt Pat came to the rescue! “You don’t need a box mix, here let me show you how to make pancakes!” She never measured anything. She took flour mixed it with milk with a little vinegar to sour the milk added baking soda and a little baking powder and Voila! She saved the day making her delicious batch of homemade pancakes! She and Uncle Lat were made for each other! They took their apples and made apple cider vinegar, which they would give to friends and relatives! I must apologize, my sister, Mary-Ann has been on my case to go visit our last living aunt, but for the last year we could not come up with a time appropriate for each other’s schedule! Maryann was really upset when she called me about Aunt Pat. This was the first thing out of her mouth, we missed seeing her while she was alive. They created a great life and made many friends And will be truly missed! Joe and Cathy K
