We had SO much fun with Roy and Joan when they were wintering in Texas and we lived there. His sense of humor and laugh were contagious. Jerry will always remember Roy for ribbing him when he got “passed by a grandma pushing a baby carriage” while running in a race in New Braunfels, TX. He was a wonderful man and will be missed by our family. -Jerry, Debbie and Sydney Fesenmeyer

Uncle Roy has been part of my life as long as I can remember, and part of the passing generation that held my hand as a child. I was 3 going on 4, when he married my Aunt Joan. Always bigger than life, lover of big machinery and big stories. He loved to remind me that he had to save me when I decided to climb up the silo and jump over to the big Hughes barn. It was a very thankful six year old, who saw Roy's face that day.
As a young man he was President of the CHS National Honor Society and forever loved to read. When returning to their house in Clarinda, I would often find them with big piles of books by their chairs. Plenty of time to play and be on the move, square-dancing, trail rides or RVing in Texas. I love the picture in his photo tribute that says Work Hard, Play Harder.
Somewhere in Heaven there is a big HyVee table and the boys are moving over to make room for you.
Gonna miss ya Big Guy.

Big Hugs to Aunt Joan and all of the family as they now navigate life without Roy. I am very sad to hear of his passing but celebrate so many memories. Uncle Roy was a smiling man who always made me feel welcome and warm in his presence, whether we were cutting sunflowers out of the cornfield together or I was begging him to ride one of their horses. When he bought that trampoline, oh wow, I wanted to go live at their house. As a kid, my big goal was to be able to imitate his super loud whistle. It was a ripper, for sure. I would sit with him at the picnic table on a hot summer evening and try until I got lightheaded. He would smile and give me tips on his "technique". I never quite got it, but to this day, I haven't quit trying. Blessings in celebration of Roy, Joan, and their huge family. Love, Kelly Rubin

Please accept my heartfelt condolences in the loss of your father. May God's grace and love be felt wrapped around you as you share memories and say farewell to Roy. It hurts to be reminded that our parents are mere mortals, and cannot stay with us forever. He will always be that strong man in your heart. Sincerely, Kristine (Hughes) Price
