I lived in Brooks as a small child(my grandparents were Boyd & Hazel Freshour) and I remember Marilyn, Marvin, Erma and several others - even though I was lot younger. I did some of my teaching requirements at Villisca and of course saw her then. Have seen her at auctions and some family funerals - we always visited and I enjoyed being around her. Sincere condolences to her family and friends. I was just thinking about her a few days ago. She was a very special person.
I hope you know that you made so many lives better, with your kindness and patience. I enjoyed having you as a teacher and auction buddy. You are loved and will be greatly missed. God speed.
Mrs. Carlson, as I first knew her as my high school PE teacher, was always a very special person and friend to me. Throughout the years since, I visited with her many times. My face always lit up when I saw her and I believe her face lit up too. I adored her. I will miss our visits.

I have many wonderful memories of teaching with Marilyn and becoming lifelong friends. When my first daughter was born she was born on Marilyn’s birthday so here Marilyn came to visit and brought me a beautiful antique rocker. She said every new Mom had to have a rocker. I still think of her whenever I use that special gift. She was the kind of friend that always went the extra mile. I will miss that laugh and friendship.
Marilyn was a treasure to our family. She was always kind and loving, but straight-forward. I can still picture Merlin and Marilyn on their wedding day. As a young girl, I thought they were the most beautiful couple I had ever seen.
