I had lost track of Richard and Barb, but have thought about them a lot over the years. First met Barb when we lived at the top of Sheridan Ave. on the corner north of their house. Had a son, Tim who was a few months younger than Rick. We visited back and forth all the time. We eventually moved to Villisca and then they did, too - so started visiting each other again. She hosted a surprise baby shower for me for our fourth son. She was so much fun. I am so sorry for your loss.

I remember the Swift family lived very near where we lived in Shenandoah (near the top of Sheridan for us), right around the corner. It was a shorter distance if you used the alley!
Later on, they lived on a corner not to far off Thomas, maybe 5th Avenue? Grandma Magneson died on December 5, 1971 and us kids were at Swift's house. Every December 5th, I am reminded of Grandma's passing and think of Barbara too, because she was the one who broke the sad news of Grandma's passing to us kids.
I remember her as others seem to: kindly, generous, pleasant and polite. She had an upbeat way about her and always a smile.

She was a special lady, and she and Richard were a wonderful couple. We were fortunate to spend a weekend near The Colony a few years ago, and enjoyed Friday night and most of the day Sunday with them. Barb hadn’t changed one bit, complete with the ‘60’s “bubble” hairstyle — perfectly coiffed, of course. We will continue to have fond memories of the weekend with the Swifts!
