Obituary of Byron Lasley

BYRON LASLEY Graveside services for Byron Lasley, 60 of Clarinda, will be held 1:15 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Oak Grove Cemetery, Clarinda. Visitation with the family will be 11 - 1 Saturday at Walker-Merrick-Eickemeyer Funeral Chapel with procession to cemetery following the visitation. Memorials are suggested to family choice. Byron Curtis Lasley was born January 10, 1958 in Clarinda, Iowa to Theodore and Zola Nina (Myers) Lasley. He received his education in the Clarinda School system and after high school he married Vicki Woodruff on February 14, 1979. Byron worked for over a decade at Earl May Nursery in Shenandoah. After that period, he began at the NSK plant in Clarinda working in bore grind and quality control. After NSK's buy-out program Byron went to Eaton’s Corp and Pella Corp in Shenandoah and then to CRHC to finish out his working years and then became disabled. Byron enjoyed tinkering with and restoring his cars, woodworking projects such as making bird house trees for a lot of people in town, and enjoying the company of family and friends. Byron passed away peacefully at his home December 4, 2018 at the age of 60. He was preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Zola, sisters Patricia Welch and Marjorie Young, brother Raymond Lasley and sister-in-law’s Joyce Crawford and Ruth Haley. He is survived by his wife, Vicki Lasley of Clarinda; children Jennifer Lasley and fiancé Amber Washburn of Clarinda and Nicholas Lasley and significant other Ciera Martin and their son Titus Lasley.; brother-in-law’s Randy Young of Clarinda, Sam (Thuy) Woodruff of Shambaugh, Richard (Carolyn) Woodruff of Des Moines, Claire Woodruff and Becky Coke of Missouri; sister-in-law’s Florence Cross of Oklahoma, Mary Lee (Don) Eberly of Washington; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
