Kleona E. Gerdts, 91 of Clarinda, died February 5, 2018 at Clarinda Regional Health Center, Clarinda, Iowa. She was born November 16, 1926 at Meadow Grove, Nebraska, daughter of Ernest and Ethel (Wright) Nelson. She was married to Rudolph Gerdts July 8, 1944 in Kansas. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Yorktown, Iowa in 1945. She was a member of the Ladies Aid for several years and also the Bible Study. The couple had lived on a farm in the Clarinda area for 47 years. In 1983 they retired and moved to Clarinda and became members of St. John Lutheran Church. Kleona was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy; sons Roger and Robert; parents; granddaughter Angie Gerdts; brothers-in-law Leroy, Irvin, Harry, Elmer; sisters-in-law Ruby Eckoff and Della Perkins. She is survived by two children: LaDonna Biggs, Kansas City, MO and Jay Gerdts and fiancé Julie Howard of Clarinda, IA; grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great great grandson; sister Donna Yaroshuk and husband Bill of Charlotte, NC and their daughter Debbie Yaroshuk daughters-in-law Ruby Gerdts of Carthage, MO and Karen Gerdts of Lincoln, NE; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Kleona Gerdts, 91 of Clarinda, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Clarinda, with interment at Clarinda Cemetery. Family visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Friday at Walker-Merrick-Eickemeyer Funeral Chapel, Clarinda. Memorials are suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church.
