Obituary of Jerrelynn Kay Bloom

Please share a memory of Jerrelynn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jerrelynn Kay was born on November 27th, 1941, in Shenandoah, Iowa, to Merle and Neoma Glasgo and passed away on December 28th, 2024, at her home in Clarinda Iowa.

Jeri was raised in Shenandoah, Iowa, and as a child, she enjoyed roller skating, spending time with her grandmother Lavern Smalley and playing with her friends.

Following graduating from high school, she married Marvin Miers in 1959, and they were blessed with 4 children: Debra, Steven, Melissa, and Richard. After having 4 children, she decided to go back to school at Iowa Western Community College. This was a major accomplishment for her, as she received her LPN license while raising her children.  Jeri spent 22 years in nursing, working in various settings at the local hospital, Mental Health Institute, and Corrections for the State of Iowa.

She and Marvin later divorced, and she then married Doug Bloom in 1987; they later divorced in 2021.

Jeri loved her pets, gardening, bird watching and her flowers. She always had a small jungle of plants to attend to in front of the windows.

We celebrate her life and remember all the wonderful lessons she taught each child individually.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Neoma Glasgo and Grandmother Martha Laverne Smalley.

Jeri is survived by her children: Debra (Rod) Goodwin, Steven (Tammi) Miers, Melissa (Joel) White, Richard (Krista) Miers, her sister Carol (Larry) Mount, grandchildren: Jared & Joshua Goodwin, Brandon (Angelina) Miers, Jordan (Hillary) Miers, Gabrielle (Randy) Brisby, Jessalynn & Justin White, Torie (Nic) Terry, Josie and Jenna Nelson, Jaxon and Cooper Miers, 7 Great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews with much love.
