Obituary of Margaret Sunderman
Margaret Ruth Woldruff was born September 24, 1928, to Cecil and Mary Woldruff in Siam, Iowa. She passed away at Azria Health on December 10, 2024, at the age of 96.
She attended grade school in Siam. She graduated the 8th grade and attended High School at New Market, Iowa. While attending high school, she stayed with a family in New Market with several other girls during the week. After graduation, she married Duane Sunderman in 1947. They started farming North of Clarinda at Hepburn, Iowa. In 1953, they moved to East River Township and continued farming. They raised 1 daughter and 2 sons, Janis Creveling, Kennard Sunderman, and Ed Sunderman.
Margaret was a stay-at-home housewife. She was very good at providing a full meal for anyone who came to visit, on the spur of the moment. She was famous for her mac and cheese, which was requested by many for the potlucks, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She hardly every missed a ball game, plays, concerts, horse shows, Page County fair, that her children and grandchildren were involved in.
The 4th of July in New Market was a favorite, with a picnic consisting of fried chicken, mac and cheese, watermelon, and pies. Her hobbies were scrapbooking articles out of the newspaper and quilting. Next to her chair were scraps of material she was sewing for the next quilt. This consisted of quilts for all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Duane, brother James Woldruff, sister Doris Perry, sisters-in-law, Arlene Woldruff, Phyllis Sunderman, and Jan Sunderman. Brother in laws Darrell Perry, Russell Sunderman, and Ron Steeve.
She is survived by Janis (Rusty) Creveling, Kennard (Linda) Sunderman, Ed (Debbie) Sunderman, sister Marion (Fred) Fesenmeyer, Dora Steeve, Lowell Sunderman, 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren with one on the way, 3 great-great-grandchildren and one on the way, and many nieces and nephews.
