Obituary of Theresa Elaine McKee

Theresa Elaine (McKinley) McKee, 69, of Villisca, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 25th, 2024, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa.

Theresa was born on February 21st, 1955, in Villisca to George and Elsie Fern (Selby) McKinley, Theresa was one of 10 children. She was raised in Villisca and attended Villisca Public Schools before going to work at Lisle’s Corporation in 1988 until her retirement in 2010. Theresa met and married the love of her life, Charles Scott McKee, on August 3rd, 1991. They enjoyed 33 years of marriage.

Theresa also worked part-time at D&D’s on Monday evenings and Saturday mornings. Theresa enjoyed cooking and working at D&D, where she was quick to share a joke or laugh heartily at one told to her, and it gave her the opportunity to share her cooking talents with the community and to visit with the patrons.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Connie Kay, Pauline, Earl Wayne, Ruby June, and Frannie. Nephews Michael, Jerry and Adrian Perry.

Theresa is survived by her husband Charles, children Georgia (Larry) Taylor, James (Carla) McKinley, Angelique, all of Villisca. Also, eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Siblings Minnie Lou Perry (Sam), Greta Turpen (Bill), Joyce McKinley, Bernell McKinley (Mary). And many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Theresa had a soft spot for her furry friends, treating each and every one like the valuable family members that they were.

Everyone who knew Theresa knew how much she loved camping, fishing, cooking, and sewing.

Theresa will always be remembered for her good humor and inability to get to the punchline of a joke, as she was always laughing too hard to deliver it. We couldn’t have asked for a better wife, mother, grandma and sister, and we will miss Theresa every day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.
