I remember when Pail was a police officer in Clarinda. He was very much loved and respected. He was the “go to guy” as he truly cared about Clarinda’s citizens and we knew it. I am sorry those who love Paul have hearts that are hurting. Please know and believe that he is in a place surrounded by overwhelming love and rejoicing with family and loved ones.

I had the honor of working with Paul at the Clarinda Academy for many years. He was respected by both student and staff. He was very professional, and he was always the kind of boss that had an open-door policy and you could always go into his office to discuss problems or concerns, and he would listen. I always looked at Paul as a man of true honor. He will be missed very much.

How I wish I had words profound enough to ease the crushing heartache of you, Laura, and all of Paul's family. He was such a hero and leader of our Clarinda Class of 1965. We all deeply loved Paul and looked up to him as our exemplar of everything that is good and true about Clarinda. That was not only during high school, but afterward as he served his country. Like a true hero, Paul rarely opened up about the crushing toll the Vietnam War exacted from him. But he bravely bore what was far in excess of what any man should have to bear to protect liberty and his fellow citizens. We're all deeply in mourning as we salute the life of our hero, Paul Preston Cade. Our class will never be the same without him. We extend our love and condolences to his family.
