Obituary of Leona Fulk
Leona Mae (Bloomfield) Fulk was born in rural Elmo, MO on March 7, 1925. She sadly passed away on April 23, 2024, at the age of 99 in Clarinda, IA.
Leona, or Lee as she preferred, was one of six children. She was born to George and Bertha (Vulgumott) Bloomfield. The family was very close and was raised during the difficult depression years, and still was able to remain close and care for one another throughout their lives.
During the World War II years, the Bloomfield's family relocated to Clarinda, Iowa. Lee held a number of jobs over the years, including working at Lisle’s, Tip Top Curler Factory, managing the café at Crawford Auction and at Berry Seed Co.
In January 1946, Lee was married to John L Fulk, of rural Clarinda. They farmed in the East River Township and had a wonderful life together. Their only child, son Ronald, joined them in 1948.
Lee was well known for her kindness, hospitality, and generosity. Her home and kitchen table were always open to all. She loved gardening, raising chickens, and especially renovating old houses, even if a profit was not made. She thoroughly enjoyed the adventure and looked forward to the next one. She had a keen eye for home decor, and her house was always tastefully and meticulously furnished.
Preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, J.L. Her parents, George and Bertha Bloomfield of Clarinda, IA. Brothers Victor (Nola) Bloomfield, and Jack Bloomfield, both of Clarinda, IA, and Carl (Barbara) Bloomfield of Blair, NE. Sisters Geraldine (Richard) Tobin of Plattsmouth, NE, and Lavon (Leo) Shrimpton of Omaha, NE.
Survived by her son Ronald (Gretchen) Fulk of Tucson, AZ. Her granddaughter Melissa Fulk of Grand Junction, CO, great-granddaughter Danni Champion of Grand Junction, CO. Step-grandchildren Galen (Ema) Nuttall of Ontario, Canada, and Greer (Shane) Lou of New York. Step-great-grandchildren Logan and Katherine Nuttall of Ontario, Canada.
In addition, Lee leaves behind numerous loving nephews, nieces, cousins, and many friends and neighbors.
