I am so sorry to hear about your mom. Some of you probably remember me. I used to babysit her children when I lived in Coin. You probably remember me as Charlene Burkhalter. Phyllis was a classy lady. The obituary picture reflects that; she always had a nice smile, kind, and pretty face. I last saw her at Terry's funeral several years ago, and it was such a surprise and good to see her, and she looked the same and talked the same with that energetic kindness and smile.
I don't remember much about my babysitting experience with all you kids, but I hope I was not too hard on you. As I remember, all of you were well behaved, and I enjoyed being at your house!
It is hard to lose loved ones, so I extend my deepest sympathy to all of you with fondness of a great lady and mother! She sure was a hard worker and accomplished many things.
Charlene

To the Shields family,
What an inspiration this woman was. She seemed like the binding that held a wonderful family together. Although her passing is sad, please cherish her memories and find comfort in knowing she is walking streets paved in gold. Such a legacy of amazing people she created. God Bless the family!

70 plus years of times spent together, playing cards, drinking coffee, square dancing, making and eating ice cream. Two out of the ordinary times are special; one of them Sept 16, 1966; I was pregnant and my labor started . I called Phyllis and told her she said to bring the boys over So we did , then on to the hospital Sandy , Randy and Donny went to the football game. A while later Phyllis got a call from the hospital to come in to work Kenny was left at home with their younger kids and our 2 younger boys As my labor progressed whenever Phyllis got a break she came upstairs to see if I had the baby yet Result was she got to see our baby girl before I did
She and Kenny have been there for us other times when we really needed someone we could count on to be there.
