Obituary of Irvin Johannes Lehman

Irvin J. Lehman was born December 14, 1984, in Des Moines, Iowa, in a snowstorm to Irvin W. (Bill) and Debra C. (Winther) Lehman. He was one of eight children.

He grew up outside of Atlantic, Iowa, in the country until 1994 before moving to Villisca. Growing up, he spent a lot of time with his cousins doing all kinds of shenanigans.  Irv went to Villisca School and then went on to Denison Job Corps Trade School. After completing trade school, he moved to Clarinda and began working as a carpenter until his health no longer allowed it.

In 2004, he met the love of his life, Drewshannon Adair. They quickly started their lives together, and one day they decided to make it official. On November 21, 2008, in Shenandoah, they said their “I dos”.  Irv and Drewshannon bought their forever home in 2007, and Irv jumped in and did all the remodeling to make their house a home and a special place for his family.

 In 2009, they welcomed their daughter Addison Moon, and in 2011, their son Irvin Carter.  His children were his pride and joy, and the home he and Drewshannon created together meant the world to him.

Irv loved camping, being outdoors, making people laugh, helping people, making music and singing. He loved taking pictures and recording videos, always behind the camera. He was a wonderful artist. He could draw and paint.  He could turn anything into art.

Even though Irv was diagnosed with cancer eight years ago, he always maintained a positive outlook and never lost his sense of humor.  After his first surgery, he had new and never-ending material for jokes.  He truly enjoyed people's company, never knew a stranger, never judged anyone, and was so kind. 

Preceding him in death are his father, Irvin W. (Bill) Lehman; his grandparents; Raymond and Norma Winther, Irvin and Lilly Lehman, grandma-in-law, Myrna Adair; and many other beloved family members.

Irv is survived by his wife of 15 years, Drewshannon, and their children, Addison and Irvin; his mother, Debra (Marvin) Shipley; siblings, William Scott Lehman, Shelli (Brian) Patrick, Clint (Trish) Richey, Cliff Richey (Bethany Aschan), Alice Burns, Jon Osborn, and Christine Shipley; father-in-law Curtis Adair (Patty Westover); mother-in-law Latisha Adair; sibling-in-laws Terrell Howell, Shandi Boutte, Rageen Littrell, along with many nieces nephews, cousins and many, many, friends.
