Obituary of Darwin Stanley Stimson

Darwin Stanley Stimson was born October 4, 1935, in East River Township: the son of Stanley & Rose (Schollian) Stimson. He passed away at the age of 87 on November 26, 2022, at the Clarinda Regional Health Center.

Darwin grew up on a farm West of Clarinda and graduated from High School in 1954. He attended community college & then worked alongside his dad on their family farm. During this time, he was a member of the Iowa National Guard and served with them for 9 years.  In his free time Darwin was an avid roller-skater, He enjoyed skating at many area rinks. He was even crowned skater of the month.

Darwin married Sandra Kay Woldruff on November 22, 1963, in Shambaugh at the United Methodist Church. To this union they were blessed with their daughter, Leasa Kay.

He was a dedicated employee for 42 years to Lisle Corporation, where he retired in 2005. In his retirement he enjoyed hunting, fishing & loved the outdoors, especially with his two brothers-in-law Alan & Jack Woldruff. His love of the mountains drew Darwin and Sandra to enjoy many family vacations to Colorado, visiting his sister Barbara & her husband Wayne Guenzi & their sons. They spent time with many dear friends getting together and having a good time. He enjoyed sharing the outdoors and any time he could spend with his daughter & grandchildren. Darwin dearly cherished his family, his daughter, Leasa and husband Joel, their children Logan and Jasmine. 

Even through his 12 years of Alzheimer's, he and Sandra shared a full life. So, truly thankful for the special day and all the memories made this past Thanksgiving Day, surrounded by his wife, daughter, her husband, their children, and great-grandson.

He is survived by his precious wife of 59 years, Sandra of Clarinda, loving daughter Leasa and her husband Joel Negus, grandson Logan and his wife Marissa (Van't Hul) Negus and their son Hayden, granddaughter Jasmine Negus and her special friend Austin Gazafy all of Sioux Center, Iowa, sister Barbara (Wayne) Guenzi, of Ft. Collins, CO, and their sons Arron and Todd, brother-in-law, Alan (Linda) Woldruff of Estherville, IA, sister-in-law Mary (Roger) Jackson of Derby, IA many special nieces, nephews, special family friend Mary Broekhuis of Sioux Center, IA, many dear friends and church family.

Darwin was preceded in death by his parents, his nephew Steve Guenzi, his in-laws George and Roxa Woldruff, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack (Sharon) Woldruff, and sister-in-law, Dian Grimes Hughes.
