Obituary of Lorene Henrietta Anna Rossander

Please share a memory of Lorene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lorene Henrietta Anna was born January 26, 1930, to Paul H. and Edna E. Herzberg (Grebert) in Clarinda, Iowa.

She attended parochial school at Immanuel Lutheran in rural Page County. Following graduation, she moved to Clarinda, Iowa, and worked at F.W. Woolworth Company.

On January 9, 1952, she married Leonard Rossander. Born to that union were 2 children, son Rodger and daughter Lynn. The couple resided in Clarinda and then moved to rural Stanton to continue farming with Leonard’s family. The couple resided in rural Stanton until they moved to The Good Samaritan Society in 2019.

While raising their two children, Lorene worked at Three Crowns Café for several years. During this time, she also helped with the local sale barn café. Lorene ultimately ended up managing the café at the Stanton Livestock Auction, later Farmer's Livestock Auction, until she retired.

Lorene enjoyed her grandchildren, especially reading to them in their younger years. Lorene also enjoyed music, cross stitch and sitting outdoors with a cup of coffee, watching the world go by. She accompanied Leonard to many auctions, flea markets and antique shows and loved collecting chicken figurines that she would find.  Lorene was a very social person and enjoyed birthday club and neighborhood club.  She also loved going out for coffee and visiting with people. Lorene was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Lorene was always ready for family get togethers, especially a picnic at the park with her parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, children, and grandchildren.

Lorene passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital.

Preceding her in death are her husband, parents, sister Marian Seddon, bother Dean Herzberg, brothers-in-law Jim Seddon and Lee Strickland.

Left to cherish her memory are children Rodger Rossander of Stanton, IA, and Lynn (John) Larson of Stanton, IA; grandchildren Lynette (Jeff) VanDenEinde, Leanne (Steve) Fluckey, Loren Gray, Lathan (Cheryl) Gray; 8 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law LaVern Strickland and Cathy Herzberg; as well as a host of relatives and friends.
