I am so sorry for Bill’s death. It is very hard for me to understand why good people are taken so young. Bill was so good to me and my family when Colt died. Just have to remember the good times. That is easier said than done. I know personally. Please accept my condolences and prayers for all of Bill’s family. Please give Imogene a hug for me.

Bill was a good man. My memory of him was the FFA initiation. We had to reach in a bucket of water and grab a hot dog covered with peanut butter and take a bite. We all know what that felt like. Then they took us out to the country and dropped us off. We had to make it back to town without getting caught. It was innocent fun. I wasn't close to him, but respected him. He will be missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all! Our family has certainly enjoyed the farm visits and visiting at the annual pig sale each year. We were very fortunate to have gotten to know Trever, Bill and Diane. Our girls have had the honor of showing many of the Shipley farm raised show pigs. We will definitely miss Bill and know that you all will carry on his legacy. Hold tight those precious memories. Love from Jerad, Vicki, Kinslee and Kaycee Vandiver

I am deeply saddened to hear of Bill's untimely death. I enjoyed working with him for many years with the Adams County Soil & Water Conservation District board of commissioners. He was very intelligent and always looked at issues from various viewpoints and was a great leader as chair of the board for many years. He was very proud of his family, wife, children, grandchildren, and brothers. But what I will miss the most is Bill's good nature, smile , and chuckle. My sympathy to Diane and all of his family and friends, like me.

So sitting here in southeast Ohio remembering Bill. I have NO DOUBT that right now he is telling Gabriel and the other angels how they need to be doing their jobs differently. My parents and I moved from a small town in Nebraska to a farm outside of Nodaway when I was in the seventh grade. Bill was probably the first friend I made. Many memories of going hunting with Bill and Jeff Hess. Many memories of FFA excursions. I also remember talking Bill, Jeff and Mark Shirley into a crazy relay race. Mark on a bike, me running, Bill and Jeff in a canoe. We competed in a race in Essex and Viking Lake. Came away with trophies for the race in Exira. Never mind that we were the only team in our division.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family for the loss of Bill too soon. Bill was a deep thinker and also a man of action and I enjoyed working for him, talking to him, and serving with him on the Adams County Conservation Board for many years. He leaves a big hole in his family, friends, and the community.

My condolences to Diane, Kyle, Trevor and Alyssa. Through the years and miles I did not keep in touch with your family like I should have. I have many found memories of Bill from our high school days and the years shortly after graduation. He was someone who enjoyed friends and worked hard. He was always upfront about what he thought about people and issues.
