Marilyn (Brinkley) Wilbur, 80 of Clarinda, IA was called home to be with her Lord Friday October 19, 2018, after a brief and sudden illness. Marilyn was born August 7, 1938 in Spencer, Iowa to Wesley and Mabel (Coddington) Brinkley the oldest of 3 children. Her siblings are Weldon (Barb) Brinkley of Destin, FL and Sandy (Bill) Dunigan of San Diego, CA. Marilyn was baptized and confirmed at First English Lutheran Church in Spencer, Iowa. Marilyn graduated from Spencer High School in 1956 and was united in marriage to Norman Wilbur at First English Lutheran Church in December of that same year. Marilyn and Norman have been residents of Clarinda and active members of St. John Lutheran Church since their move here in 1978. After nearly 62 years of marriage, Marilyn is survived by her husband Norman; her children Kevin (Dawn) Wilbur and Kandace (James) Sump; grandchildren Kevin (Cindy) Williams, Dalton Smith, Kole Wilbur, Karlie Wilbur, Kody Sump, Dustin Sump (fiancée Angela Dubberke), Derek Sump; great-grandchildren Konnor and Harper Williams; her brother and sister; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Marilyn Wilbur, 80 of Clarinda, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church, Clarinda with Rev. Jerome Wagoner officiating. Following the service a luncheon will be held in the fellowship hall giving family and friends time to gather and share memories. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to St. John Kitchen Remodel Project or Clarinda Lutheran School. Interment will be at a later date as Marilyn chose to donate her body for scientific study. Walker-Merrick-Eickemeyer Funeral Chapel is providing arrangements.
