DOROTHY OTTE Dorothy Rosina Otte was born March 28, 1928 to Wilbur J.H. and Alma Sophie Marie (Henneman) Mascher in Harlan Township, southwest of Clarinda, formerly the Harmon Meyer place where her parents then farmed. When she was three years old her parents moved to their grandparents’ farm, Fred and Pauline (Krull) Henneman. Dorothy lived there until she was married to LaVern R. Otte January 25, 1948 at Immanuel Lutheran Church and then moved only several miles away to the Robert Otte home place. Dorothy was a member of Immanuel all her life and was very active in LWML by working at funerals, visiting shut-ins, making quilts to send to Lutheran World Relief, and living her faith. She loved being outside and working in her garden and with her flowers. Her family was important to her. She so enjoyed and loved her family and neighbors. She also looked forward to her and LaVern attending monthly card parties. She was well known for her homemade angel food cakes both white and chocolate. She loved to bake and always had cookies, muffins, cake or brownies in her freezer. Dorothy went to her heavenly home on October 27, 2018. She was preceded by her parents; husband LaVern July 18, 2014; brother Donald Mascher and his wife Jean; sisters Pauline Mascher and Agnes Dunham and her husband Duane; brothers in law Robert Rasmussen and Cliff Nook. Left to cherish her memory are her two children: Marlene Robberts and husband Darrel of Clarinda, IA and son Loren Otte and wife Carolyn of Denver, CO; grandchildren: Jeremy Robberts and wife Jennifer and their children D.J. and wife Savannah of Minden, IA, Brett and Jenna of Villisca, Jason Robberts and wife Angie and their children Jaron, Janessa, Lydia of Clarinda and Courtney of Grinnell, IA and Cory of Cedar Rapids, IA, Rachel Honig and husband Scott and their sons Carter and Nathan of Blue Springs, MO, Jessica Carretto and husband Steve and their sons Caden, Jaxon, and Kylan of Boca Raton, FL, Christine Ekberg and husband Brad and their children Becker, Elise and Stella of Pierce, NE; sisters Martha Rasmussen of Omaha, NE and Janice Nook of Wheaton, MN; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Services Dorothy Otte, 90 of Clarinda,will be held 10:30 Wednesday, at Immanuel Lutheran Church with visitation 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Walker-Merrick-Eickemeyer Funeral Chapel, Clarinda. Interment will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
